The Indian diaspora also includes family stories rooted in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and many other countries. Where you live does not tell us which traditions you want to follow. We would like to know what matters to you, who you want to involve and which choices you want to make as a couple.
Before requesting proposals, agree who approves the budget, who guides the traditions and who gathers family questions. These may be different people. A written record of decisions means you do not have to start again whenever someone joins the conversation.
DECIDING FROM ABROAD
Bring the right people into each conversation
Across time zones, not every relative needs to attend every meeting. Save shared calls for decisions that need everyone, and record what still needs checking, who will do it and by when.
We can begin by discussing your priorities online. Local research, visits and supplier support are defined in the proposal. If a relative or someone guiding the celebration needs to join in another language, we can discuss who could help with that conversation.
VISITING PORTUGAL
Make the appointments before booking the trip
Before choosing dates for venue visits, check wedding availability, relevant ceremony requirements and whether the suppliers you need can meet you. A lovely visit is less useful if the person who can answer an essential question is unavailable.
Group together decisions that benefit from being there: seeing the venue, attending a tasting or discussing a particular requirement. A video tour can help narrow the options, but cannot replace every check on site. There is no single number of trips that works for every couple.
ARRIVING AND STAYING
Think beyond the flight to Portugal
Compare arrivals into Lisbon, Porto or Faro with the wedding location and accommodation. Being near an airport does not resolve journeys between events. Check connections and schedules for your actual dates before settling the programme.
Ask for approximate arrival and departure plans, find out who needs help getting around and explain who books and pays for each service. Guest information should distinguish confirmed accommodation from suggestions, and events for everyone from smaller family gatherings.
FAMILY RECOMMENDATIONS
Bring your preferred suppliers into the discussion early
You may have a trusted supplier where you live, or someone your family would like to guide a ceremony. Before relying on their involvement, check dates, travel, accommodation, equipment needs and the Portuguese venue’s conditions.
A family recommendation is a starting point. Availability, responsibilities and the full cost need to be clear before booking. We can help gather those questions and explore options, without assuming a particular service will be available.

Questions about planning from abroad
Do you only work with couples based in the UK?
We can discuss plans with couples living in different countries. What we need to understand is the wedding you have in mind, the languages involved and the local support you would like in Portugal.
Do we need to visit Portugal before the wedding?
That depends on what you want to decide in person. We can start remotely and identify what needs a visit or local confirmation before you arrange travel.
How can we involve relatives with different opinions?
Separate suggestions from decisions that need approval. Agree who signs off each area and which choices belong to the couple. This gives family a voice without leaving every question open.
Will all guests have the same entry requirements for Portugal?
Living in the same country does not necessarily mean travelling under the same conditions. Each guest should check the requirements for their documents and itinerary with the Portuguese consular authorities before booking.
