  4. 04PREPARE · Make everything work on the day

WHERE TO BEGIN

Start with the decisions that shape everything else

Before searching for venues or requesting proposals, define four points: an approximate guest count, the region, the time of year and the budget. They do not need to be final, but this foundation quickly shows what is realistic for your wedding.

  • GuestsAn estimate of how many people you would like to celebrate with.
  • RegionWhere you would like to marry and which journeys are reasonable for you and your guests.
  • Time of yearA date, a month or a season that gives you some flexibility when searching.
  • BudgetThe amount you feel comfortable dedicating to the wedding and the areas where you would most like to invest.

The clearer these first decisions are, the easier it becomes to find venues and suppliers that genuinely fit your wedding.

WHAT EACH STAGE DELIVERS

PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT

When professional support makes a difference

A wedding planning team organises the process, anticipates what needs to be resolved and keeps every responsibility clear. This support is especially valuable when your wedding involves:

  • Several days, venues or moments to coordinate
  • Travelling guests and several teams involved
  • Limited time to manage proposals, contracts and deadlines
  • The need for one person to oversee the wedding as a whole

PLANNING FROM ABROAD

Plan your wedding in Portugal with local support

When you live outside Portugal, some decisions are simpler to manage locally. Venue visits, suppliers, accommodation, transport and logistics become part of one plan, so you can organise the wedding remotely with greater confidence.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Common questions when you begin planning a wedding

Where should we begin?

Start with four points: an approximate guest count, region, time of year and budget. With this foundation, it becomes much easier to understand which venues and suppliers suit your wedding.

Do we need to book every supplier at once?

No. Begin with the decisions that influence the rest, especially the date and venue. Then book suppliers in priority order according to the wedding you are planning.

How far in advance should we begin?

It depends on how flexible you can be. If you want a sought-after date, a particular venue or have many guests travelling, it makes sense to begin earlier. With more flexibility, the planning can happen over a shorter period.

When does it make sense to hire a wedding planner?

When you have limited time, many suppliers to coordinate, travelling guests or a wedding with several events and decisions to manage. Having one person responsible for planning helps keep everything organised through to the wedding day.
